Glossary
The words, in plain English
What the terms on ERPSav's pages, cases and letters mean.
- At risk
- The money a finding says was overpaid, overcharged or not collected, before any judgement about how likely it is to come back.
- Case
- One problem with one counterparty, such as one duplicate invoice or one year's lease reconciliation. A case can hold several findings.
- CAM (common area maintenance)
- Charges a landlord passes to tenants for shared parts of a property. Called service charge in the UK and Ireland and outgoings in Australia and New Zealand.
- Confidence
- How often a finding of that kind is usually recovered, from 0 to 100%. It is a property of the rule, not a promise about your case.
- Counterparty
- Whoever owes the money back: a supplier, landlord, utility, card processor, carrier or manufacturer.
- Credit memo
- A document from a supplier reducing what you owe. Already-applied credits are left out so the same money is not claimed twice.
- Demurrage and detention
- Charges for containers or equipment kept past the free time at a port (demurrage) or outside it (detention). Often billed for delays the shipper did not cause.
- Downgrade
- A card transaction priced at a higher rate because it did not qualify for the cheaper one, often from missing data or late settlement.
- Duplicate payment
- The same bill paid twice, usually because the invoice number was keyed differently, the supplier exists twice in the vendor list, or a statement was paid as well as the invoice.
- Effective rate
- Total card processing fees divided by total card sales for a period. The one number that lets you compare months and processors.
- Expected recovery
- At risk times confidence. When several findings cover the same money, a case counts the largest one, never the sum.
- Finding
- One rule that fired on your data, with the rows and figures behind it.
- Gross-up
- Adjusting a building's variable costs as if it were fuller than it was. Applied to costs that do not vary with occupancy, it overcharges tenants.
- Interchange
- The fee set by the card networks and paid to the card's issuing bank. It passes through your processor; everything above it is the processor's markup.
- Managed service
- ERPSav's team works the cases for you and charges an agreed share of money actually received. No subscription.
- One-time pass
- A single payment that unlocks one module for a fixed period and size of file, for a one-off job.
- Recovery plan
- A subscription per module plus a success fee on money you record as received. You do the work in the app.
- Retail rate filing
- A dealership's request, under state law, for warranty work to be paid at its customer-pay labor rate and parts markup.
- Rooftop
- A dealership location. Outside warranty, ERPSav says location.
- Success fee
- A percentage of money you record as recovered, on the Recovery plan only. Flat plans keep 100%.
